JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Human Resources & Safety Assistant provides administrative and coordination support for the Cooperative’s human resources and workplace safety functions. This role assists with employee records management, benefits administration, training coordination, and compliance documentation, while supporting safety programs and regulatory requirements. The position contributes to a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace within an electric and broadband utility environment.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Provides administrative support for daily human resources and safety operations, including maintaining accurate records, files, and documentation.
  2. Assists with the preparation, coordination, and submission of reports and records, including but not limited to state, federal, industry, and compliance-related documentation.
  3. Assists as required with human resources activities, including onboarding support, records maintenance, training coordination, and benefits administration for employees, retirees, and the Board of Trustees.
  4. Coordinates employee training schedules, prepares materials, and assists with delivering training and informational sessions to groups using verbal, written, and visual communication methods.
  5. Assists with maintaining safety compliance records, including training documentation, OSHA records, PPE tracking, workers’ compensation, accident reports, and FMCSA-related information.
  6. Supports departmental projects, employee events, and Cooperative programs as assigned.
  7. Maintains schedules, supplies, and basic facility needs for the HR Training Room and Wellness Center.
  8. Complies with all AEC policies, procedures, and safety practices; participates in required safety meetings and training; and promotes a positive and professional image of the Cooperative.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role, however the employee may be required to walk or stand occasionally, use hands, fingers to handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

 

Travel

Periodic travel to state and local destinations, as well as some interstate travel is required.

 

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution in business management, human resources, or related field.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  3. Ability to present information and data clearly and effectively to groups using verbal, written, and visual communication methods.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Two or more of administration experience in human resources, compliance, safety programs, or a related field.

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Valid driver’s license.
  2. Ability to obtain Notary Public certification, if required.
  3. Legally authorized to work in the United States.
