Description
AEC has an immediate opening for a temporary full time Dispatcher.  The assignment will be for approximately one year from the date of hire.  This position is a rotating 12 hour shift, days and nights.  Please see job description below.

Summary Provide constant, rapid and accurate communications between field units and operations base.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
Performs limited Customer Service duties by receiving after hours calls in office.  Takes appropriate action.
 
Dispatches field units to handle service interruptions, meter connects/disconnects and any other field services, as necessary.
 
Maintains constant monitoring of all communications in the field between units and between stations.
 
Maintains documents and records the sequential actions taken by the field crews.
 
Receives and handles calls from consumers reporting lack of hot water.  Determines whether Load Management is controlling or if there is a switch defect.  Dispatches personnel if necessary.
 
Prepares monthly reports.
 
Maintains outage reports and compiles information for monthly outage report.
 
Studies and becomes familiar with the total transmission system that serves the Cooperative to improve judgment in dispatching.
 
Maintains general supervision of activities inside and outside of the building while on duty.
 
Monitors SCADA System for alarms indicating system disturbances.
 
Monitors weather conditions and records pertinent data.
 
Monitors system load constantly and intensely during peak load conditions.
 
Remains constantly informed of current electric system configuration.
 
Assists in issuing voltage control commands as necessary to provide load reduction during potential peak periods.
 
Creates hard copy reports through SCADA as judges necessary to document system conditions.
 
Issues commands through SCADA system as directed by proper cooperative personnel, if instructions are consistent with safety and service requirements.
 
Issues commands through SCADA as necessary to provide maximum safety to Cooperative personnel and public.
 
Makes decisions regarding necessity to issue commands through SCADA for improving safety to Cooperative personnel and public.
 
Issues non-reclosing switches to Cooperative personnel and maintains record of same.
 
Issues breaker open commands as judged necessary to ensure safety.
 
Provides report to following operator concerning system conditions and status.
 
Reports SCADA system failures as directed by supervisor.
 
Maintains Walkie-Talkie log.
 
Establishes and maintains contacts and relationships for the purpose of coordination and communication with internal customers, external customers, government agencies and the general public as appropriate. 
 
Building Security – maintain spare key log, distribute spare keys, record (non co-op) vehicles entering the warehouse gate.   Monitor security cameras and notify proper authorities when necessary.
 
Performs such other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience                                           
High school graduate required.  Two-year technical degree preferred.  Should have experience in meeting and dealing with people both over the telephone and in the office. Experienced in the use of telephone, computers, and communication equipment.
 
Language Skills                                                     
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business manuals, correspondence, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers of the Cooperative.
 
Mathematical Skills                                              
Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms and is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
 
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
