JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

Assist crews in warehouse with material. Maintain supplies in the warehouse and assist with staking and water heater contractor as needed.

Essential Functions

  1. Warehouses, stores, and maintains materials received in a neat, orderly and safe manner—properly identified.

  2. Receives work orders, boxes, issues, and conveniently places material for construction and maintenance crews prior to next work day. Delivers materials to crews in the field as required.

  3. Receives and unloads materials and completes appropriate records; returns unused materials to stock; receives partial reels of wire returned by the line crew and then will weigh and return to stock; handles the return of faulty and damaged transformers.

  4. Maintains warehouse in a neat, clean and orderly manner; monitors scrap bins and notifies vendor of needed pickup; maintains laydown yard free of debris, cuts grass, etc.

  5. Responsible for contacting plumbing contractors and issuing water heaters for H2O program—maintains appropriate records.

  6. Maintains records or materials issued and returned on work orders; keeps up with records of transfer of materials to and from Co-op facilities.

  7. Submits appropriate reports concerning lines staked, reject poles, and joint-use attachments, etc.

  8. Secures routine right-of-way permission as required.

  9. Maintains necessary files and records. Prepares staking sheets. Posts changes to detail map.

  10. Enters staking sheet details into computer and as needed, rectifies field changes on staking sheets and computer. Assigns map references and read sequence numbers on new service orders.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; explosives. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Works around trenchers, line trucks, live wires, oils spills and clean up, pole top rescue, etc. This role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role, however the employee may be required to walk or stand occasionally, use hands, fingers to handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee occasionally must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Travel

Periodic travel to state and local destinations, as well as some interstate travel is required.

 

Required Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma.

  2. Maintains current knowledge of RUS specifications, electrical regulations and codes.

  3. Operates transit and directs staking procedure on site.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Associate Degree or equivalent from technical school and three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

  2. Three years or more working with utility materials and supplies.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Valid Driver’s License.

  2. Legally eligible to work in the United States.
