JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

To provide maximum service to the Cooperative and member consumers by creating dynamic marketing programs, publications and communications. To learn the marketing and communications responsibilities as OJT education.

Essential Functions

While learning from On-The-Job experience, the Intern will provide support and assistance to the Marketing and Strategic Services Department in:

Provides support for:

  1. The administration, creation and distribution of the Cooperative’s external and internal publications, planning and coordination of the Cooperative’s annual member meeting, the Cooperative’s youth and outreach programs, the Cooperative’s internal and external visibility and community involvement functions, the Cooperative’s external media relations, the Cooperative marketing, public relations and special projects programs, and administrative assistance with correspondence, reports, filing, cold storage scanning, etc. as requested.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role, however the employee may be required to walk or stand occasionally, use hands, fingers to handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

Travel

Periodic travel to state and local destinations.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Currently enrolled in junior/senior level classes at the University of South Carolina Aiken to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in a communication, marketing or public relations discipline.

  2. Familiar with Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  3. Familiar with Photoshop and industry standard design software such as InDesign or QuarkXpress.

  4. Working knowledge of graphic design and photography.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Knowledge of basic uses of electricity and proper application.

  2. Relevant experience in this field of work.

     

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Valid Driver’s License.

  2. Legally eligible to work in the United States.
